Expert Advice for a Unique Sports Facility
Elevate Sports were called in to support the project's designers and delivery team with a challenging project to build sports pitches on the roofscape of the new Eclipse Leisure Centre.
This unique project creates one of the world's most advanced Leisure Centre designs, bringing passivhaus technology to the fore for a 'wet and dry facility' in Leisure. The new Leisure Centre is designed to consume up to 60% less energy compared with a standard new building.
The rooftop sports pitches optimise the space available within the site confines, and the CLT roof structure supports their placement in this eye-catching location.
Utilising Elevate Sports' experience in this specialist field, the project's professional team were able to proceed confidently in the development of these unique pitches: https://www.placesleisure.org/centres/eclipse-leisure-centre/centre-activities/sports/
CNG: Community Net Gain
Imagine a world where the development of any new, community-focussed facility is measured by a metric called Community Net Gain (CNG).
A measurement tool that could be recognised by local planning officers to ensure proposed facilities that will clearly enhance a community’s social activities, increase resident's activity levels, promotes healthy lifestyles and creates more sporting opportunities for all are NOT compromised NOR derailed due to the high costs of other mandatory policies, which currently favour the likes of slow worms and stinging nettles.
Yes, I know I’m stirring up the (protected and expensive) hornet’s nest.
And I am a strong advocate of environmental sustainability, having successfully promoted this important cause louder than many during my career.
But surely there has to be a ‘CNG perspective’ in our development system that is held more favourably than anything else when the outcomes are clearly beneficial to all.
And if now, during this post-pandemic time, promoting the benefits of consistently healthy, active and connected lifestyles in communities across the country is not the right time, when ever will be?
The Kenfig Hill RFC: Power Zone has transformed the training experience for all the players at KHRFC, igniting joy and excitement during their rugby drills.
This dedicated facility, situated in South Wales, signifies a crucial development for grassroots rugby, offering a specialised space for players and the local community to maintain active lifestyles.
The Power Zone stands as a testament to blending functional training areas with top-notch strength and conditioning equipment, enhancing the training environment for individuals of all ages.
This initiative, spearheaded by the project team, in collaboration with Elevate Sports, is set to revolutionise the way training is approached, ensuring a holistic approach to physical development.
"Jason, we wanted to say a massive thanks to you for all your work on the Power Zone – we truly couldn’t have done it without you!
Once again, thanks for work!"
